Jay Maxwell is al sinds 2004 actief binnen de wereld van Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA). Als voormalig topcompetiteur behoorde hij jarenlang tot de beste HEMA-vechters ter wereld en is hij vandaag de dag een van de weinige fulltime professionele HEMA-instructeurs wereldwijd.

Zijn reis begon met de Britse schermsystemen, maar al snel raakte hij gefascineerd door de elegantie van de Italiaanse scholen van zwaardvechten.

Tegenwoordig doceert Jay op prestigieuze internationale evenementen, waar hij zijn passie en expertise deelt met schermers van elk niveau.

Zijn focus ligt niet alleen op techniek, maar vooral op de kunst van het lesgeven zelf met als doel om de volgende generatie vechters nóg beter te maken dan hijzelf.

Jay Maxwell has been active in the world of Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) since 2004. As a former top competitor, he was among the best HEMA fighters in the world for many years and is currently one of the few full-time professional HEMA instructors worldwide.

His journey began with the British fencing systems, but he soon became fascinated by the elegance of the Italian schools of swordsmanship.

Today, Jay teaches at prestigious international events, sharing his passion and expertise with fencers of all levels.

His focus is not only on technique, but especially on the art of teaching itself, with the goal of making the next generation of fighters even better than he was.
