The glossa on Liechtenauers longsword teachings contained in the MS 3227a hausbuch seem to encourage several direct and practical solution to getting parried. Interestingly, some of these are missing or at least worded rather differently in the other surviving comments on the same teachings. In this workshop we are looking into these recommendations, putting the five central words in the Liechtenaur tradition to work: Vor, Nach, Indes, Sterke, Swach.

Participants will need full longsword sparring gear to get the most out of the workshop. Helmet, gloves and gorget are enough to participate at low intensity.

Biography

Yannick started doing HEMA in 2010, at the Belgian club SwArta. After several years of training in Ringen, Longsword and Dagger he started entering international competitions. In search for solutions for recurring difficulties in sparring, he turned towards comparing different sources within the Liechtenauer-tradition. Growing interest in testing these interpretations led to presenting workshops at several international events, as well as becoming trainer at a new location for Swarta in Ghent.
